Korean Skincare for Beginners: Where to Start in the UAE

Korean skincare can look overwhelming: essences, ampoules, toner pads, sleeping packs. The secret is that you do not need them all. Start with five essentials, then add one product at a time.

Step 1: Know your skin type

• Oily: shiny by midday, visible pores.
• Dry: tight, flaky, rarely shiny.
• Combination: oily T-zone, normal or dry cheeks (very common in the UAE).
• Sensitive: stings or reddens easily.

Step 2: The five essentials

1. Cleanser: Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser 150 ml or Purito Mighty Bamboo Panthenol Cleanser 150 ml for sensitive skin.
2. Toner: Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner 200 ml or I'm From Rice Toner 150 ml.
3. Serum: pick by concern: centella for calm, niacinamide for oil and marks, or hyaluronic acid for hydration.
4. Moisturiser: Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Cream 80 ml or, for oily skin, Purito Oat-In Calming Gel Cream 100 ml.
5. Sunscreen: Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics 50 ml.

Step 3: Add one product at a time

Give each new product about two weeks before adding another, so you know what works and what does not. Patch test on the jaw or behind the ear first.

Step 4: Learn the order
